Combining a unique amalgam of improv schools, Artistic Director Joseph will teach improv comedy. It will be six weeks of instruction on Thursday at 6:30 - 8:30 PM from February 20 to March 26, at 21 Elizabeth Street, Okotoks, AB.

Some possibilities for why you want to take improv classes:

  • You want to improve as a performing artist. Or you want to start practicing the performing arts.

  • You want to develop life skills. Confidence, public speaking, thinking on your feet, social interactions and more are learnable skills.

  • You want a place to express yourself. Improv comedy is not about saying funny things. It’s about developing comic moments through openness and honesty.

  • You want to try something new. Improv is fun and suits people of all types.

  • You want to be part of a community. Community is one of our three pillars at Elizabeth St. Improv. Openness lets us find a common ground more easily.

An experienced improviser and instructor, Joseph is currently the Artistic Director and Lead Instructor at the Okotoks improv company Elizabeth St. Improv. In addition to his performing arts background, Joseph has a background in on-boarding and training in the oil and gas industry.

Joseph’s teaching style attempts to make the simple concepts behind improv known to the participants so they can focus on having fun and getting out of their heads. His students describe it as engaging, accessible and inclusive.

Joseph was a scientist by trade but his introduction to performing arts awoke a latent passion that has carried him around North America for performance and training.
