Art of Aging: Transforming the Narrative of Life

Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 10:00AM

Leighton Art Centre

May 4-5, 2019 10 am - 4 pm both days

This workshop is inspired by Angeles Arrien’s book The Second Half of Life: Opening the Eight Gates of Wisdom. Cynthia Brown has developed this workshop as a springboard to experience and to evoke in participants a deep listening and response to the deeper questions of the “second half of life.”

If you are in the midst of transformation, whether you’re on the cusp of retirement, empty nesting, experiencing career, relationship or health changes, the “Art of Aging” process offers creative expression and reflection through creating art, free association writing and poetry.

During this workshop, space will be given for silence, for inner work and reflection, and also for enriching sharing. This experiential workshop offers an opportunity for creative expression supported by visual images and poetry with the potential to evoke imagination. The intention is to approach the challenges of aging from the perspective of the eight different gates as outlined by Arrien. This is an intimate experience for a maximum of six participants.

This workshop introduces the participant to Arrien’s book from an experiential perspective. Two full days allows each participant to enter into their own work from their individual place.

Supplies: All required supplies are included in the workshop.

Please bring a lunch, water bottle and snack each day.
